The WPJ Series wire-to-wire and wire-to-board crimp style connector, recently introduced by JST Corporation, Waukegan, Illinois, was designed for both extreme moisture and non-submersion applications. The major uses of the WPJ series include automotive, appliance, underwater cameras or non-water resistance applications. Three different control key patterns prevent miss-mating while their unique terminal structure has been designed to prevent mismating while maintaining the contact reliability. An inner lock housing feature prevents accidental disconnection to ensure connector mating integrity even under adverse conditions.
WPJ Series connectors have a 5.0 mm (.197”) pitch and are available in 2 and 3 circuits. Wire sizes AWG #22 to #18 with either standard or thin insulation types are accommodated. Current rating is 7.0 A AC/DC (AWG#18) at 300 V AC/DC. The temperature range is -25°C to +85°C (including temperature rise in applying electrical current). The waterproof grade is IP:X7, and the withstanding voltage is 1,500 V AC/minute. The contacts are copper alloy material and are tin-plated. The housings and top-entry, fully shrouded headers are made of UL94V-0 rated PBT (glass filled) material. The WPJ series is lead free and complies with both European and Chinese directives.
