The new J86-4400 keyboard from Cherry is ideally suited for harsh environments and for unsupervised applications that may be subject to vandalism or abuse. Both the fascia and the keycaps are constructed from stainless steel and are tested to withstand spills, washdown and impact similar to hammer blows.
Kiosk owners know that the expense of a maintenance call to service a damaged keyboard is unacceptable, so the J86-4400 addresses the weak points of other kiosk keyboards on the market today. Keycaps are non-removable, and all key switches are designed with over-travel protection. This means that forceful impact applied to the keys will not damage the electro-mechanical contacts.
