Stackpole Electronics' RNCF series of thin film chip resistors utilize a superior grade of Nichrome metal film to achieve tight tolerances and low TCRs. In the past, Nichrome thin film elements were known for their outstanding low noise and high stability performance, but were limited to tolerances of 0.1% and greater as well as TCRs of 25 ppm and greater. Process and material improvements now allow the RNCF series to achieve tolerances as low as 0.01% and TCRs as low as 5ppm. This type of outstanding precision can make the RNCF series a cost effective option for replacing more expensive technologies such as tantalum nitride or metal foil.
