AP880X Series Step-Down DC/DC Converter

Diodes Inc and Digi-Key introduce the AP880X Series a family of LED driver ICs that significantly reduce the number and size of external components required by drive circuits. Operating at switching frequencies up to 600kHz, AP880X Series step-down, DC-DC converters require only four smaller and lower cost inductors and/or capacitors. Ensuring uniform LED brightness and eliminating the need for ballast resistors, the drivers suit a broad range of high-brightness, general illumination duties, including signage, architectural and emergency lighting, and MR16 lamp replacement.

AP880X ICs drive up to 13 series-connected LEDs with a constant current, from voltage sources between 8V and 48V, with efficiencies up to 92%. An integrated soft-start function reduces LED stress and extends lifetime. A choice between PWM and DC input dimming control increases design flexibility. All AP880X devices come in the industry standard SOP-8L package. The AP8800 and AP8801 are also available in the MSOP-8L package, and the AP8802 in exposed pad DFN and SOP-8L packages.
